quantlab.backtest.base.benchmark_display_name(dataset, axis_symbol, as_of)[source]#

Return a benchmark’s readable name: its ticker as of as_of when dataset names a lookup.

A CRSP benchmark store is keyed by PERMNO, a bare number, so the lookup the benchmark dataset names gives its ticker; without a lookup, or when it does not know the symbol, the axis label is returned unchanged.
